Provencal burger with orange zest, olives & basil (page 122)

Switch and Mix

This would be excellent with the pork chop on page 83. Simply replace the the burger with the pork and adjust the cooking time accordingly. No other changes are necessary.

I am going to try this with the aubergine, it'll need a few changes because the aubergine is baked rather than fried, but I'm sure the combination will be wonderful.

Practical Playtime / Jobs For The Kids

My Cooking With Kids Recipe Diary

Jake 5 years 10 months, James 3 years 2 months

Jake loved this one. He really enjoys the juice in the salsa and very finely grated orange peel is a lovely seasoning for kids. It works with meats and in acidic tomato sauces or stews.

James was asleep so missed out on the burger but, to my great excitement and relief, he's eating peas again. He was helping me shell peas in the kitchen and then he just started to eat them.  Wonderful and wonderfully exciting, firstly because he is eating them, then secondly because this supports my theory that getting him involved is always the best way.

This lasted three days. Then at lunchtime he ate too fast and had so many in his mouth that it just got dry and he got rid of them and didn’t want to eat any more. But it worked for a while.  My fresh peas are now finished, but I’ll keep trying.
