My Cooking With Kids Recipe Diary

Jake 5 years 4 months, James 2 years 8 months

James still won’t eat sweet potatoes. I wrote in the introduction that the combination should be irresistible, but for him it seems not to be.

He ate this on the first test, when I was still thinking of serving it with rice and prawns. He just wanted rice, nothing else. He is so patient with the rice. He’s learning to use his little knife and fork and he pushes the grains of rice here and there and then on to his fork. He’ll eat six or seven grains at a time and then start again. I have no idea what to do. I haven’t had a victory for a while. I also don’t want dinner times to be stressful, so I take it a bit easy. But the more I take it easy on him the worse it gets. I have no idea what to do. I’m just so pleased his head is ok that I’ll happily feed him rice for a bit.
