- Wash the leeks.
- Peel the red onion. Start your child off by cutting off the tops with a knife. Then peel the skin just enough to give them something to grip and then pull off. This is extremely satisfying at any age.
- Measure the vinegar.
- Measure the mustard.
- Measure the capers.
- Take the gherkins out of their jars.
- Measure the gravy.
- Measure the yoghurt.
- Weigh the chestnuts.
- Pick the parsley leaves from the stalk.
- Make the dressing.

Jake 5 years 4 months, James 2 years 8 months
James had his stitches out yesterday, a week after his accident. He wasn't really hungry, just ate some egg.
Jake ate it all and had seconds. I didn't change anything for him. He is bird watching today. They've got a school project to spot as many as they can. We've put peanuts outside my office and Casey has got bread next door.
