My Cooking With Kids Recipe Diary

Jake 5 years 4 months, James 2 years 8 months

I tested two recipes this evening. Both boys got stuck into this one. I served it after the baked tomatoes and I would have been happy for James not to have had anything at all. But he did, he even ate a spoonful of chickpea puree. He had made it with me in the kitchen, so he really had to try. He loves my little mixer which I’m happy for him to use as there is no way he can hurt himself. He’ll hear the noise and he’ll come running in.

Jake is very excited about the recipes because the roast chicken is his choice. He’s offering me little tips, lots of ideas and enthusiasm. He’s also helping James.

Nothing to do with this recipe, but I’ve started fruit and yogurt a couple of times a week again, in the morning. It's a great and relatively easy way to get lots of fruit into kids. It makes a bit more work but guarantees a good start. We add a few oats to the yogurt as well.
