My Cooking With Kids Recipe Diary

Jake 5 years, 4 months, James 2 years 8 months

I sliced the liver for Jake and James, and as I did I tasted a little and I assumed it would be too strong. But I gave it to them anyway. I told them to try a little with the apple and onion and the creamy giant whole wheat couscous I served with it.

Jake proudly ate some and then said, 'I had some with the apple then I had some on its own and I didn’t think it was too strong.' I had given him roughly a third of a portion and he ate it all. I feel so desperately proud at times like this and I just love having them all at home for the holidays so that we can eat together again. It really reminds me of how spoilt I’ve been.

James is still quite poorly so he just had a little of the whole wheat couscous. This in itself is a little victory, as we have always given him whole wheat stuff because it's good for him and it makes us feel good.
